Hidden beneath the city’s rhythm on Wireless Road, Chess Bangkok—created by the team behind Sugar Ray—defines itself as a Basement Lounge where luxury, music, relaxation, and mystery converge with a Void Acoustics sound system. The space is expansive yet private, with every booth designed as a plush, velvet-red sanctuary framed by warm golden accents and the venue’s signature black-and-white chessboard motif. It is a venue built for immersion: in conversation, in relaxation, in cocktails, and most importantly, in sound.

Following our successful installation at Rim Bangkok, and with the client’s passion for Void Acoustics sound systems, Aura Visual System was entrusted with designing a solution capable of delivering both a high-fidelity lounge soundscape and a powerful, controlled, club-grade experience for nightly DJ sets.

The Chess Bangkok project required more than a conventional bar-and-lounge audio design. The room’s rich red palette, warm ambient lighting, and geometric visual identity inspired our choice of an all-black loudspeaker suite—visually discreet yet unmistakably premium, aligning seamlessly with the venue’s chess-themed aesthetics.

The client had a strong affinity for the Void Acoustics Air Series—not only for its sonic character but also for its design. This pairing allowed us to craft a system that elegantly blends into its environment while delivering energy and precision suited to professional DJ sets.

To anchor the room, we installed a Void Acoustics Airten V3 main system. Known for clarity and consistent coverage, the Airten V3 ensures even sound pressure levels across every seating area, essential in a venue where every seat is a comfortable sofa designed for long, late-night stays.

Supporting the full-range mains is a single but commanding Venu 212 V2 subwoofer, delivering tight, musical low-frequency energy that complements electronic house music without overpowering intimate conversations.

Chess Bangkok features multiple seating clusters and private zones that require balanced sound without leakage or hotspots. For this, we selected the Void Cyclone Series—compact, detailed, and ideal for distributed coverage.

Cyclone 55 units were deployed for outfield and rear-delay reinforcement, ensuring uniform, warm, and inviting sonic consistency throughout the lounge.

To ensure DJs perceive the same clarity and energy experienced in the room, we installed a pair of Void Air 8 monitors, built directly into the DJ console for seamless performance ergonomics.

Adjacent to the DJ booth are two discreet VIP rooms, each requiring its own high-quality listening environment. We installed Void Cyclone 4 loudspeakers in each room, chosen for their compact size and impressive output, perfect for intimate private spaces.

At the core of Chess Bangkok’s audio architecture is the Allen & Heath AHM-16 processor, responsible for routing, zoning, and system protection. A CC-7 touchscreen at the DJ booth provides instant monitor-level control, while an iPad interface offers venue staff an intuitive way to manage daily operation.

These amplifiers deliver clean power, dynamic headroom, and long-term reliability—critical for a venue operating five nights a week.

After Chess Bangkok opened its doors, feedback from both the venue and guests has been overwhelmingly positive. The system delivers:
