What happens when a nightclub is designed to feel like a mysterious European palace, while its sound system needs to deliver the energy of modern electronic music?

At House of Savoy Bangkok, the answer lies in treating sound as part of the architecture from the beginning.

Located on the second floor of SILQ Hotel & Residence on Sukhumvit 24, House of Savoy presents a darker, more luxurious visual language, combining deep tones with orange and silver accents to create an atmosphere that feels dramatic, intimate, and deliberately mysterious.

For Aura Visual System, the challenge was not simply to install a high-performance nightclub sound system. The system needed to deliver the output, clarity, and low-frequency impact expected from a modern nightlife venue while integrating naturally into a highly visual interior.

The DJ Booth is one of the key focal points of the venue, making the relationship between the loudspeakers and the surrounding architecture particularly important. This led Aura Visual System to develop a Void Acoustics sound system using different loudspeaker families according to their acoustic role, coverage requirements, and visual relationship with the space.

System Design: A Void Acoustics System Built for Impact

The House of Savoy sound system combines Void Acoustics Tri Motion, Airten V3, Air 12, and Venu Series loudspeakers to provide high-output performance and distributed coverage throughout the venue. The system is divided into a main PA around the DJ Booth, dedicated side fills, DJ monitoring, and distributed low-frequency reinforcement.

Main PA

The main PA consists of two Void Acoustics Tri Motion loudspeakers, suspended around the DJ Booth as the primary sound sources.

Four Venu 14 V2 loudspeakers are also suspended around the DJ Booth and directed toward the side and rear areas. Their positioning extends coverage beyond the immediate DJ zone and helps distribute sound more evenly throughout the venue.

Side Fill

Two Airten V3 loudspeakers are suspended at the sides of the venue to provide dedicated coverage for the VIP areas.

An additional two Venu 14 V2 loudspeakers are suspended at strategic corners and locations where additional coverage is required. These units help address coverage gaps and maintain a more consistent sound level throughout the venue.

DJ Booth

Two Air 12 loudspeakers are installed at the DJ Booth as dedicated DJ monitors. The Air 12 was selected for its combination of high-quality audio performance and distinctive design, allowing the monitoring system to complement the visual identity of the DJ Booth while providing the monitoring performance required for professional DJ operation.

Low-Frequency System

Three Venu 218 V2 subwoofers are installed beneath the DJ Booth, forming the primary low-frequency system. Their dual 18-inch configuration provides the output and low-frequency extension required for a high-energy music environment.

Two additional Venu 212 V2 subwoofers are suspended above the Upper Bar, providing dedicated low-frequency reinforcement for the bar area.

Smoking Room

The Smoking Room is equipped with one suspended Venu 8 V2 and one suspended Venu 112 V2.

The Venu 8 V2 provides localized full-range coverage, while the Venu 112 V2 is suspended above the PA to provide additional low-frequency reinforcement within the room. This distributed approach allows each loudspeaker group to serve a specific acoustic zone rather than relying on the main PA to cover the entire venue from a single position.

The result is a Void Acoustics installation designed around coverage, consistency, and controlled low-frequency impact while maintaining the distinctive architectural character of the system.

Acoustic Engineering: Controlling Energy Beyond the Dancefloor

For Aura Visual System, one of the key engineering challenges was not simply achieving high SPL, but controlling how that energy behaves within a nightclub located inside a hotel environment.

Electronic music demands substantial low-frequency energy, making structural vibration and low-frequency transmission important considerations. The system design was therefore supported by site measurements and EASE acoustic simulation, helping the team evaluate coverage and acoustic behaviour before finalising the installation.

Particular attention was given to the subwoofers beneath the DJ Booth. Mechanical isolation was incorporated using acoustic damping materials and spring-based decoupling to reduce the transfer of vibration into the building structure.

The engineering process continued after the venue opened. Real-world operation and feedback from the venue revealed an opportunity to further improve the experience in areas away from the main dancefloor.

Rather than simply increasing the overall system level, Aura Visual System introduced additional low-frequency reinforcement through strategically positioned suspended subwoofers. This helped bring the acoustic experience in these areas closer to that of the main dancefloor.

The objective was not simply to make the bass louder, but to create a more consistent sense of energy throughout the venue.

Control Architecture: Precision Behind the Experience

Behind the Void Acoustics loudspeakers is an Allen & Heath control architecture designed to provide flexible management across the venue's different zones.

At the centre of the system is the Allen & Heath AHM-32, providing matrix processing, signal routing, and independent control across the different areas of the venue.

The system is complemented by Dante and CQ-18T, providing flexible connectivity for DJ and live audio sources.

The CQ-18T provides a practical mixing platform, while the AHM-32 manages distribution and processing across the venue. This separation allows the system to accommodate different operational requirements without requiring the entire sound system to be reconfigured.

A CC-7 touchscreen provides a simplified user interface for controlling key system parameters from the DJ Booth, allowing day-to-day operation without direct access to the underlying system configuration.

Networking and Infrastructure

Power amplification is handled through the Void Acoustics Bias Q Series, including Bias Q2+ and Bias Q5 amplifiers. The amplifiers are configured with dedicated presets for the Void Acoustics loudspeakers used throughout the venue, supporting consistent system performance across different zones.

The installation uses a Netgear, network switch with Dante connectivity to distribute digital audio and support communication between the system's processing, control, and networked devices.

Klotz structured cabling provides the physical signal infrastructure, while SoundWire mini is integrated into the system for networked audio connectivity.

Together, these components provide the infrastructure required to distribute audio signals and maintain reliable communication between the different elements of the sound system.

Safety and Installation: Engineering Beyond the Loudspeakers

With multiple loudspeakers suspended above occupied areas, mechanical safety is equally important. Aura Visual System worked alongside Alba Integrate on installation and safety considerations, including speaker rigging, structural support, secondary safety measures, and cable management.

Each suspended loudspeaker requires an appropriate primary mounting solution together with secondary safety provisions. Cable routing and system infrastructure were also considered as part of the installation to maintain a safe, organised, and visually integrated result.

Outcome: A Nightclub Where Sound Belongs to the Space

House of Savoy demonstrates a different approach to nightclub audio design. The objective was not simply to create a powerful Void Acoustics sound system, but to create an installation where sound, architecture, acoustic control, and operation work together as one experience.

From the distinctive Tri Motion loudspeakers around the DJ Booth to the Air 12 DJ monitors, distributed Venu 14 V2 coverage, Airten V3 side fills, and Venu 218 V2 low-frequency system, each element has a specific role within the overall design.

The result is a professional nightclub sound system capable of delivering the intensity required for electronic music while maintaining controlled coverage and low-frequency performance throughout the venue.

At House of Savoy, Void Acoustics is not simply the sound system. It is part of the identity of the space.
