Maya Beach Club Phuket
Yacht & Beach Club

From relaxed meals to high-energy beachfront parties after dark, Maya Beach Club Phuket delivers a complete sensory journey where architecture, lifestyle, and sound converge, powered by the fully weatherproof Void Acoustics sound system, designed and installed by Aura Visual System. This high-output, precision-controlled multi-zone sound system is engineered for premium performance with zero environmental disturbance.
Nestled along Bangtao Beach and defined by its Aztec-Mayan architectural language and handcrafted wooden structures, the space has been reimagined as a seamless blend of nature, design and entertainment.
Ownership sought a new system capable of delivering international-level DJ energy while remaining controlled and respectful to the neighboring community.
Aura Visual System was appointed to design and integrate a complete solution that is now considered one of the most technically advanced beach club installations in Thailand.
Unlike enclosed nightclubs, beachfront venues present a unique acoustic paradox. Sound must feel immersive, powerful, and emotional inside the venue, yet tightly contained to prevent low-frequency propagation across open water.
Maya Beach Club Phuket's previous system struggled with both durability and containment, resulting in uneven coverage, inconsistent tonal balance, and neighborhood complaints.
Ownership was looking for a new system with nightclub-grade SPL and impact, consistent tonal balance across multiple listening zones, full weather resistance (heat, humidity, salt air), strict directivity control and bass management as well flexible operation from daytime dining to night time party modes.
Phoom: Sound Engineer, Aura Visual System
“This wasn’t just about replacing speakers. We had to completely rethink how sound behaves in an open beachfront environment. The goal was strong, focused energy inside the club and almost nothing escaping outside.”
One of the project’s most defining challenges came from the physical layout. The DJ booth faces outward toward the beach and nearby hotels that PA would have projected sound directly into sensitive areas.
Aura Visual System made a bold decision: Reverse the entire main system orientation.
Instead of projecting away from the DJ, the primary PA fires inward toward the DJ, containing acoustic energy within the venue footprint.
Alfonso Martin – CEO, Aura Visual System
“We practically flipped our design 180 degrees from what we usually do. It’s unconventional, but acoustically it made perfect sense. I personally guaranteed the calculations to the ownership and nearby hotels. The result is a system that runs at full power without complaints.”
This inward-facing configuration also provides an unexpected benefit: DJs hear the true main system directly, improving mix accuracy and level control.
To support Maya’s dynamic daily operation, the venue was divided into four independently controlled audio zones:
Each zone features dedicated tuning, SPL targets, and time-of-day behavior, allowing the system to transform naturally from relaxed daytime ambience to full-scale club intensity after sunset.
With the DJ booth relocated to the center of the venue and strict containment requirements in place, the main system was designed for maximum punch with minimal spill.
The solution includes:
Using delay processing and polarity inversion, the cardioid array significantly attenuates rear low-frequency energy while maintaining powerful impact on the dance floor.
The result is tight, controlled, high-definition bass without environmental disturbance.
To reinforce coverage in the VIP area behind the DJ:
Careful delay alignment ensures consistent phase response and tonal balance across every seat.
For accurate monitoring without phase conflict, we use Arc M15 to monitor, Venue 118 to subwoofers, and digital delay alignment. This ensures coherent playback between monitors and mains, allowing DJs to hear exactly what the audience hears.
By day, the front area operates as a swimming pool with relaxed lounge seating.
By night, the pool floor rises, transforming the space into an open wooden deck for dining and dancing.
To support both moods:
During daytime service, these zones run at lower SPL while maintaining warmth and full-range character. Dedicated subwoofers restore tonal balance even when the main cardioid array is attenuated.
All systems are oriented away from neighboring hotels to maintain acoustic containment.
Dining areas are distributed across covered, open-air, and beachfront spaces, requiring consistent sound coverage under extreme environmental conditions includes:
Save – Solution Engineer, Aura Visual System
“Salt air is extremely aggressive on equipment. Every component here — from enclosures to brackets — was specified for outdoor durability. Reliability was just as important as sound quality.”
Due to moisture risks near the beach, all control racks were relocated indoors, requiring a fully networked architecture.
The entire system operates on Dante Audio over IP, built around:
Only LAN cabling runs across the site, ensuring reliability over long distances.
All speaker and network cabling uses oversized, heavy-shielded Klotz cables, specified to minimize noise and maintain signal integrity across runs up to 60 meters.
Using Allen & Heath’s scheduling engine, the system automatically adapts to the venue’s daily rhythm.
Staff can easily manage zones, sources, and levels through the CC-7 touchscreen.
Alfonso, “The venue changes personality throughout the day. The system follows automatically. Staff don’t have to think about it — it simply sounds right at every moment.”
While audio defines the energy of the space, lighting completes the emotional experience.
To ensure the visual atmosphere could evolve as fluidly as the sound system, Maya Beach Club Phuket selected the ChamSys MagicQ MQ70 lighting console — a compact yet powerful platform designed to deliver professional-grade lighting control with maximum flexibility.
From relaxed daytime ambience to dramatic night-time party scenes, the console enables seamless transitions between moods, allowing lighting to synchronize naturally with the venue’s changing personality.
Despite its small footprint, the MQ70 delivers performance typically found in full-size touring consoles, making it ideal for dynamic hospitality environments that demand both portability and reliability.
The completed installation delivers:
✔ High-impact club performance
✔ Precise directivity and noise control
✔ Consistent multi-zone coverage
✔ Full weather resistance
✔ Full Audio over IP architecture
✔ Intelligent automation
✔ Zero neighborhood complaints
For Maya Beach Club Phuket, the sound system now matches the venue’s striking visual identity with an equally refined sonic signature.
Save, “This project shows that power and responsibility can coexist. You don’t need to compromise one for the other.”
