At the heart of Bangkok’s most iconic retail destination, a new sonic landmark has emerged. Nextopia, located on Floors 5 and 5A of Siam Paragon, is not merely a retail space—it is a bold statement of how sound, design, and technology can redefine the future of retail experiences. The complete audio system, designed and installed by Aura Visual System, features Void Acoustics as its core, delivering an immersive, high-impact sound environment unlike anything previously seen in the global retail sector.
For decades, Siam Paragon has stood as a world-class landmark. However, the vision behind Nextopia goes further than prestige. The Siam Piwat Group, led by Ms. Chadatip Chutrakul, set out to create a space that raises environmental awareness, embraces innovation, and establishes a new global benchmark for retail destinations. Nextopia was conceived as a game-changer—a place where visitors no longer feel like they are inside a shopping mall, but rather within a fully immersive experiential ecosystem.
Sound was identified early as a key emotional driver of this vision.
Ms. Chadatip’s introduction to Void Acoustics came through a previous Aura Visual System installation at Raynue, Gaysorn Amarin. It was there that she experienced Void for the first time—both visually and sonically. The unmistakable sculptural design immediately stood out, but it was the clarity, power, and character of the sound that left a lasting impression.
Intrigued, she sought to understand more about the system behind that experience. This curiosity led her directly to Aura Visual System, initiating the collaboration that would eventually shape Nextopia’s audio identity.
The decision to select Void Acoustics was driven by two fundamental principles: leadership and differentiation.
Nextopia was never meant to follow existing retail conventions. Void Acoustics, known globally for breaking away from traditional loudspeaker aesthetics while delivering uncompromising performance, aligned perfectly with this philosophy. Its ability to combine exceptional sound quality, distinctive design, and custom color integration made it the ideal solution for a space that demanded both visual impact and acoustic excellence.
The brief from Ms. Chadatip was remarkably simple—and exceptionally ambitious:
Create the best sound system ever experienced in a retail environment, on both a national and global level.
Aura Visual System was tasked with designing and implementing an audio system across three connected floors: Nextopia Floors 5 and 5A, plus Eatelier on Floor 4, covering a total area of over 22,000 square meters.
The system needed to support a wide range of use cases, from everyday ambiance to DJ performances, live events, and concerts, while maintaining consistent sound quality throughout.
Aura Visual System approached the project with a singular concept:
“Make everyone feel as if they are in the same hall.”
To achieve this, the system was meticulously designed using EASE 5, an industry-standard acoustic simulation software. Every loudspeaker position, coverage angle, and SPL target was simulated to ensure even distribution and tonal consistency across the entire space.
The system was structured with a front-to-back delay alignment, treating the main entrance as the reference point and synchronizing all zones toward the rear of the hall. This approach ensures a coherent listening experience regardless of listener position.
Advanced zone-based control allows the system to adapt seamlessly to different operational modes, from background soundscapes to high-energy live events.
At the core of Nextopia’s audio infrastructure is the Allen & Heath AHM-64, where 2 of them serve as the central matrix and zone management engine. With full channel allocation and individual loudspeaker control, the system allows precise tuning and flexible reconfiguration.
Key features include:
This backbone empowers operators to manage complex audio scenarios with ease, ensuring reliability and adaptability at all times.
The installation comprises over 100 Void Acoustics loudspeakers, powered by 15 Void amplifiers across four equipment racks. Each loudspeaker model was selected based on its acoustic role within the space:
All loudspeakers were custom-finished in multiple RAL matte colors, ensuring seamless integration with Nextopia’s architectural and interior design language.
Installation Challenges & Standards
The scale and prestige of Siam Paragon demanded the highest construction and safety standards. All installation personnel were fully certified for high-level work, and every mounting point, safety mechanism, and signal path was reviewed and approved by engineers at each stage: design, pre-installation, and post-installation.
Achieving consistent coverage across such a vast area required absolute precision, both acoustically and structurally.
Since its opening, Nextopia has attracted large numbers of visitors, many drawn specifically by its unique atmosphere. The combination of lighting, architecture, and immersive sound has created an environment that feels closer to a cultural venue than a shopping destination.
Ms. Chadatip herself expressed immediate enthusiasm after the final system tuning, famously remarking:
“Void Acoustics has turned this place into a massive nightclub.”
This reaction perfectly encapsulates the success of the project—sound not as background, but as a defining experiential element.
The Void Acoustics installation at Nextopia is more than an audio system; it is a statement of intent. Through visionary leadership, meticulous engineering, and bold design choices, Aura Visual System has helped Siam Paragon redefine what sound can achieve in retail environments.
Nextopia now stands as a global reference point—where retail, technology, and immersive audio converge to create a truly next-generation experience.
