Penthouse Bar + Grill spans three levels of dining atop Park Hyatt Bangkok, combining New York–inspired nights of music, bold cocktails, and steakhouse classics into one immersive concept.

To transform the venue’s soundscape, Aura Visual System (AVS) collaborated with Never2Late, along with installation partner Alba Integrate, to deliver a sound system from Void Acoustics that not only performs across multiple sonic scenarios but blends beautifully into the bold interior design.

The Vision: From Background to Bold

Before the installation, the venue relied on a background music system that couldn’t keep up with its expanding entertainment ambitions—live band, live jazz, DJ sets, private events, and more. AVS’s challenge was to design a system that could seamlessly shift from ambient music to high-energy performances, all while maintaining visual harmony with the sophisticated interiors.

“This wasn’t just about replacing old speakers,” says Maarten Goetheer of Never2Late. “It was about designing a system for three distinct environments—yet feel cohesive, powerful, and intuitive for the staff to use. We had to engineer the system to be as flexible as the venue itself.”

“We didn’t just install speakers,” a member of the Alba Integrate team shares. “We treated each loudspeaker like a design element. We created custom gold mounting brackets, so every speaker feels intentional—more like a sculptural detail than a technical fixture.”

The result is a sound system that looks as good as it sounds.

Level 34 – The Grill

The journey begins at The Grill, a refined dining room centered around an open show kitchen. With prime steaks and seafood sizzling over charcoal and an antique Royal Enfield motorbike parked at the entrance, the space combines rugged charm with elevated service.

For this environment, Void Cyclone 4 loudspeakers and Venu 208 subwoofers were deployed to enrich the background music with warmth and clarity, adding energy without overwhelming conversations.

Level 35 – Cocktail Bar & Mezzanine

One level up, the energy intensifies. The Cocktail Bar features high ceilings, a suspended DJ booth, rich textures, and deep reds. It’s a space that hosts live performances, DJ sets, and social gatherings throughout the week.

The AVS team installed Airten V3 as the main PA, with Cyclone 55 handling outfill and Cyclone 4 discreetly lining walkways for even coverage. Red finishes integrated seamlessly with the venue's bold interior design. Subwoofers were cleverly installed behind the back bar to preserve floor space, ensuring form never compromised function.

“I honestly feel like Void was made for this venue,” says Sabine Delettre Nakamura, General Manager. “The red finish on the Airten matches our color perfectly, and the design of the speakers complements the space so well—it’s seamless.”

Above the Cocktail Bar, the Mezzanine offers a more intimate setting for private groups. Sound coverage was carefully tuned to ensure clarity and presence without overpowering the space.

Tucked just off the cocktail floor lies a hidden gem: the Johnnie Walker Depth of Blue Room—Southeast Asia’s first flagship Scotch whisky room, designed for immersive tasting sessions and sensory storytelling. To preserve the room’s intimate character while still delivering sonic clarity, Cyclone 4 speakers were installed—subtle in presence, but rich in tone with just the right touch of warmth.

Level 36 – Rooftop Bar

The rooftop bar crowns the Penthouse—a breezy garden lounge overlooking Bangkok’s CBD, perfect for sunset cocktails and late-night energy.

Given the open-air conditions, AVS opted for Void Cyclone 10 loudspeakers and Air 15 subwoofers.

The Cyclone series was chosen for its IP55-rated weather resistance, UV-protected paint, and durable stainless steel fittings, ensuring long-lasting performance under tropical heat or rain while delivering clean highs, tight bass, and even coverage throughout the terrace.

Behind the Experience: Seamless Control and Flexibility

Across all three levels, the system is unified by the Allen & Heath AHM 16 Matrix Processor. Staff can adjust volume by zone, able to switch input sources between DJ and live performance with one tap, ensuring smooth transitions, easy operations without needing a technician on-site with Custom Control via CC7 panels, tablet, and mobile phone.

At the heart of the live setup is an Allen & Heath CQ18T digital mixer. It delivers high-quality sound, is compact, easy to use, and has a variety of functions to suit various applications, enabling musicians to control their mix in real time.

To ensure a scalable, low-latency, and future-proof audio infrastructure, Dante audio networking was deployed throughout the venue. The system leverages Allen & Heath DT22 I/O interfaces, allowing analog sources—such as turntables, microphones, or media players—to be easily integrated into the digital Dante network from any point in the venue. This flexibility allows for rapid event setups and keeps the cabling clean and efficient, without compromising audio fidelity.

The result is a system that’s not only sonically impressive, but also technically robust—built for versatility, control, and seamless operation across all three floors.

Sound That Resonates

Since the new installation, the difference has been impossible to miss.

“Guests are staying longer, dancing more, and mentioning the music,” Sabine says. “Even returning customers are noticing the change. And the DJs—they love it. They say it’s like performing on an instrument that brings their set to life.”

A Unified Vision: Where Architecture, Atmosphere, and Audio Meet

With bold design, panoramic views, and now a sound system to match, Penthouse Bar + Grill isn’t just another rooftop venue—it’s a layered, curated experience where each floor tells a different story, and the sound ties it all together.

A place where sound isn’t just about hearing it—it's about enhancing the experience.
