The Lantern Resorts Patong: Designing Sound for Every Moment with Void Acoustics

The Lantern Resorts Patong
Hospitality

Morning begins with a relaxed breakfast. Throughout the day, guests gather over coffee, while evenings transform into vibrant social experiences with cocktails and live DJ performances by Void Acoustics sound system.
Located in the heart of Patong, Phuket, The Lantern Resorts Patong is a contemporary boutique resort that offers guests a peaceful escape just moments away from Patong Beach, Bangla Road, and Jungceylon Shopping Centre. Designed as a modern tropical oasis, the resort combines spacious accommodations, inviting public spaces, and warm contemporary interiors to create a welcoming hospitality experience.
As part of the resort's ongoing renovation, its food and beverage destinations have also been reimagined. One of the first completed projects is AZIZI Café & Grill, a stylish semi-outdoor venue welcoming both hotel guests and walk-in visitors throughout the day before naturally transforming into an energetic cocktail bar with live DJ performances after sunset.
Above, the second-floor restaurant provides a completely different atmosphere, serving as the hotel's breakfast venue where guests can enjoy a calm and comfortable start to the day. Looking ahead, the resort continues to expand with The Venetian, a new signature dining concept currently under development.
To support these distinct hospitality experiences, Aura Visual System was entrusted with designing and installing a professional audio system that seamlessly adapts to every moment while complementing the resort's warm Boutique Modern architecture.
Unlike a conventional hotel restaurant, each hospitality space within The Lantern Resorts Patong serves its own unique purpose throughout the day.
On the ground floor, AZIZI Café & Grill transitions effortlessly from relaxed daytime dining into an energetic evening destination where cocktails, music, and live DJs become part of the guest experience. The soundtrack naturally changes throughout the day, requiring an audio system capable of evolving alongside the venue itself.
Meanwhile, the second-floor restaurant focuses on a completely different objective. Designed primarily for breakfast service, the space demands subtle background music that enhances the dining atmosphere without interrupting conversation or creating listener fatigue.
Although both venues belong to the same resort, their acoustic requirements are fundamentally different. Aura Visual System therefore approached the installation as a unified multi-zone audio ecosystem, carefully tailoring each area to its intended function while maintaining a consistent sonic identity throughout the property.
To meet the architectural and operational requirements of the project, Aura Visual System selected the Void Acoustics Cyclone Series as the primary loudspeaker solution.
Designed specifically for indoor, outdoor, and semi-outdoor environments, the Cyclone Series combines weather-resistant construction, controlled directivity, excellent speech intelligibility, and remarkable musical clarity. These characteristics made it the ideal choice for maintaining consistent coverage across the resort's open architectural layout while ensuring reliable performance in Phuket's tropical climate.
Beyond its acoustic performance, the Cyclone Series also complements the resort's Boutique Modern design language. Its compact architectural form allows each loudspeaker to integrate naturally into the surrounding environment, becoming part of the space rather than competing with it visually.
The result is a system engineered not simply to reproduce music, but to shape atmosphere—providing smooth, even coverage that enhances every guest experience without drawing unnecessary attention to itself.
The ground floor centres around AZIZI Café & Grill, the resort's social hub for both hotel guests and outside visitors.
During the day, the venue offers a relaxed café atmosphere where carefully balanced background music complements conversation and casual dining. As sunset approaches, the venue naturally transforms into a lively cocktail destination featuring DJ performances, demanding significantly greater output, headroom, and low-frequency energy.
To support this transition, Aura Visual System designed the main system around Void Acoustics Cyclone 55 loudspeakers paired with Cyclone Bass subwoofers, delivering wide, consistent coverage while comfortably handling both subtle ambient playback and energetic foreground music.
Additional Cyclone 4 loudspeakers were strategically deployed as distributed delay speakers, maintaining uniform sound pressure levels and tonal consistency throughout the seating areas without noticeable transitions between listening zones.
A particularly unique feature of the installation is the discreet integration of a Void Acoustics Venu 208 subwoofer within the venue's interior décor. Carefully concealed inside the architectural design, the subwoofer delivers powerful low-frequency extension while remaining completely invisible to guests—preserving the clean visual aesthetic without compromising audio performance.
While AZIZI transforms throughout the day, the second-floor restaurant follows a much gentler rhythm.
Serving primarily as the breakfast venue for hotel guests, the design objective focused entirely on comfort and long-term listening.
Distributed Void Acoustics Cyclone 4 loudspeakers provide smooth, natural background music with excellent speech intelligibility and low listening fatigue, allowing guests to enjoy breakfast in a calm, welcoming environment.
Rather than becoming the centre of attention, the sound quietly supports the hospitality experience—creating an atmosphere that feels effortless from the very beginning of the day.
Behind the scenes, the installation is managed by an Allen & Heath AHM-32 audio matrix processor, providing centralized signal routing and independent zone management across both hospitality spaces.
Integrated with Dante networking, the system offers flexible audio distribution while remaining fully scalable for future expansion as additional venues within the resort come online.
Because the system is operated daily by hospitality staff rather than dedicated audio engineers, operational simplicity became a key design priority.
Aura Visual System using Allen & Heath IP1 wall controllers, enabling staff to adjust volume levels, switch audio sources, and manage daily operation quickly and intuitively. The streamlined control workflow minimizes staff training while ensuring reliable system performance every day.
At The Lantern Resorts Patong, sound has been designed to evolve naturally alongside the guest journey.
From peaceful breakfast mornings on the second floor to vibrant evenings at AZIZI Café & Bar, every loudspeaker has been carefully positioned to provide consistent coverage, balanced tonal performance, and seamless transitions between different listening environments.
Equally important, the audio system integrates harmoniously with the resort's Boutique Modern architecture, complementing the surrounding design rather than competing with it.
This philosophy reflects Aura Visual System's approach to hospitality audio design: engineering systems that not only deliver exceptional sound quality, but also become an integral part of the overall guest experience.
Because great hospitality is remembered through atmosphere.
And exceptional atmosphere begins with beautifully designed sound.
