Evolving from the success of the Burning City event, this venue has been transformed into a refined ambiance, characterised by stylish wood accents and warm tones that shift seamlessly from relaxed lounge evenings to high-energy late-night parties.

This vision not only influenced the venue’s aesthetic but also drove the decision to invest in an exceptional sound system. To realise this transformation, Aura Visual System undertook the design and installation of a Void Acoustics sound system, ensuring an exquisite balance of intimacy, power, and coverage throughout every zone of the venue.

Impressed by the unparalleled sound quality of Void Acoustics speakers, especially the Air Vantage models from our installation at Baccarat, the owners of Upper House confidently selected them as the main loudspeaker system. To extend coverage, Airten V3 units were deployed as out-fills, with Air 8 serving as both delay fills and dedicated DJ monitors. For the smoking lounge, Cyclone 55 loudspeakers ensure consistent tonal quality.

To address low frequencies, an array of four Venu 218 subwoofer units was arranged in an ARC Sub Array, effectively managing the challenges posed by the venue’s width and shallow depth. Complementary low-end reinforcement is provided by strategically positioned Air 15 and Venu 208 subwoofers, ensuring uniform low-end coverage throughout the venue.

Amplification is handled by Void Acoustics Bias Q series (Q5, Q2, and Q1.5+), supplemented by an Inca 500 for the smoking area. At the system’s core is the Allen & Heath AHM-32 matrix processor, managing routing, EQ, and dynamics across all zones.

For intuitive operation, staff can control the system via an Allen & Heath CC7 touchscreen or wirelessly through iPad. This flexibility also extends to DJs, who can adjust monitor levels on the fly without a dedicated sound engineer.

One of the client’s primary goals was uniform sound quality across the venue. Through meticulous tuning of delays, gain structures, and crossover alignments, the AVS engineering team achieved flawless coverage, ensuring every guest—from the bustling dance floor to the smoking lounge—experiences the same high-quality sound.
